Chemical Free Cleaning
Did you know that conventional cleaning products contain harmful chemicals, dyes, preservatives, and fragrances? These toxic ingredients in household cleaners can cause skin irritation, cancer, endocrine disruption, respiratory effects, nervous system issues, and much more. My first tip in creating a chemical free home is getting rid of those nasty chemical products and choose non-toxic cleaning supplies that are effective and safe!

For a couple years now, I have been using cleaning clothes called E-Cloth. E-Cloths use only water to successfully clean surfaces. These cloths have scientifically be proven to remove 99% of mold and bacteria including E.Coli.
How does it work?
So how does the cloths actually remove bacteria? When the cloth is soaked in water and wrung out, the cloth is “charged” as the water fills in the microscopic voids between and within the cloth’s fibers. According to E-Cloth’s website, “when you draw the cloth across a dirty surface, those water molecules attract and stick to particles of dirt, grease, grime, even bacteria and mold, pulling the particles into the voids and trapping them there. Rinsing the cloth with warm or hot water, or running it through a machine wash cycle, releases the trapped particles and refreshes the cloth.” As a result, you do not have to use any toxic chemicals while cleaning surfaces if you use an E-Cloth!
Types of E-Cloth
To get started, I highly recommend getting the Home Cleaning Set that includes 8 cleaning cloths. This set is great for use for all parts of your home! The Home Cleaning Set includes:

My favorite is the glass and polishing cloth. It makes my mirrors shine (streak free!) with just the use of water! To use, wet the window cloth and wipe the mirror or glass surface like you would normally clean. Next, use the thin blue glass & polishing cloth to wipe any water and streaks from the mirror or glass surface. You now have a streak free, clean surface! Now beware, you may get birds flying into your clear, clean windows 😉

My next favorite E-Cloth is the bathroom cloth, it does a great job effectively cleaning my bathroom sinks. You can also use the bathroom cloth to wipe down the toilet, shower, and bathtub. If you have dust on surfaces in your bathroom, use the dusting cloth first before using the bathroom cloth. The dusting cloth does a great job picking up dust without leaving streaks of dust behind.
My second favorite E-Cloth set is the Chemical-free & Reusable Hand and Face Cleaning Kit. I have this cleaning kit in the van to use when the kiddos are messy! Simply use the water spray bottle to moisten the cleaning cloth and use the cloth to clean faces, hands, etc! I like this kit because it comes with 10 reusable cloth wipes. It comes in a stylish carry pouch that is easy to pull the wipes out of and it also has room to store the dirty cloths.

How to Wash
To wash dirty cloths, simply machine wash using any laundry detergent. E-Cloths should NOT be washed with fabric softener, bleach, or dryer sheets as these products can damage the fibers of the cloth and thus they may not clean as effectively. If you are cleaning multiple surfaces at one time, you can simply rinse out the cloth with warm or hot water and this will release the trapped particles and “refreshes” the cloth!
